How to Complain When Your Rights Are Broken

In validation — October 2026 This page is being checked by the Manbhavan panel. It may change.

Something is wrong

Someone did not let you in.

Someone did not give you information you can understand.

Someone treated you badly because of your disability.

This is not allowed. The law protects you.

Step 1. Tell the office

Tell the office where it happened.

You can say: “I have a disability. The law says you must help me. Please fix this.”

Ask for the name of the person you spoke to.

Ask them to write down your complaint.

Step 2. Tell the Commissioner

Every State has a Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.

There is also a Chief Commissioner for all of India.

You can write to them. You can ask someone to help you write.

The Commissioner can ask the office to fix the problem.

Step 3. Ask Manbhavan for help

Call 9911107772 or send a WhatsApp message.

We will explain in Easy Read what you can do.

We can help you write the complaint.

The law

RPwD Act 2016: Section 3 (equality and non-discrimination), Section 42 (access to information), Sections 79–80 (State Commissioners: functions and powers), Section 75 (Chief Commissioner). Complaints to the Chief Commissioner can be filed online through the CCPD portal; State Commissioner offices accept written complaints.
