How validation works
Easy Read
We are the Manbhavan Easy Read Review Panel.
We have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We read the document.
We say what is hard to understand.
The writer changes it.
When we all understand, the document gets our seal.
We are paid for this work.
Who checks
Members of Manbhavan Self Advocacy Trust who have completed validator orientation and chosen to join the panel. Membership is voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time. No member's diagnosis is ever named.
A validation session
Three validators (minimum), one facilitator, one document, up to three hours. Section by section, validators answer: Do you understand it? What is unclear? Does the picture match? The facilitator records every answer. The writer revises. If any section is still unclear for more than one validator, it goes to a second session. A document is Approved only when all sections are understood.
Validators are paid
₹1,000 per validator per session and ₹1,500 for the facilitator, paid within 7 days, plus travel or data allowance. This is shown as a separate line on every client quote so buyers see where the validation fee goes. Rates are reviewed each April.
The validation record
Every session produces a record: document title and version, date, number of validators, sections changed, outcome. The record is published with the document. It is what the seal refers to.

The seal
Checked by Manbhavan
The seal may appear only on a document with a published validation record that ended in Approved. It belongs to Manbhavan Self Advocacy Trust. Organisations receive it with a validation certificate they can file with their accessibility audit.
